BEATSTREETS x HOLLYWEERD

Just when I was becoming uninspired to make music, I got a random message on Myspace asking if I wanted to participate on a project. The person who sent me the messege was DJ Jamad. For those who don't know, DJ Jamad is 1/6 of The Aphilliates and has a radio show on Sirus weekly called Afromentals on Hip-Hop nation. In the message, he asked if I was interested in making some remixes with some musical groups & artists he happened to run into. I was like sure. So, DJ Jamad sent me some acapellas and said, "Just do what you do." When I finished with the remixes, I felt that with this particular project, I need to make sure all of my "I's" are dotted and my "T's" are crossed because DJ Jamad was referred to me by Kenny Fresh (Bling 47). With that said, I spent the last of my spending money to go get 1 of my remixes mixed by my homie Jose at The Grill Studio's in Oakland. We were there for about 4 hours mixing the track the best we could, because anymore time, I would not have been able to pay my rent for that month. The songs I remixed are "Weirdo" and "Members Only" by Hollweerd. Hollyweerd is a group from the ATL. If you don't know who they are, you need to find out soon. Make sure you search for those on your favorite blog sites and listen to it as much as you want on my Myspace page soon. There are more tracks to come, so stay tuned.

And I want to give a special thank you to Fresh Selects for posting this magnificent article.

J*DAVEY x BEATSTREETS

My buddies J*DaVeY from L.A. came to the Bay recently and performed at DNA Lounge. They're very musically influential & original group. They have opened up for the legendary Prince, they were number 5 on "iTunes’s Top Electronic Albums", and they've done hella other significant stuff in their carreer. You just need to do your research. The group consists of Jack Davey(singer) & Brooke D'Leau(producer/keys), along with band members Thundercat(base), Drummer Boi Blue(drums). If you've never heard of them, a great place to start to get to know them is their myspace page at www.myspace.com/jdavey. I decided to make sure I still have a good eye with a camera and took photos of their show. Lemme know if you like them or not. I took these photos with a regular ass Canon Power Shot A550. So imagine what I could do if I had a nice camera. You can check out more photos on my Flickr account at www.flickr.com/beatstreets

COMMON x N.E.R.D. x BEATSTREETS

I recently rode my bike to the Common/N.E.R.D. concert in my hometown of Berkeley, California at my old High School, Berkeley High. My friend had bought a ticket, but she forgot the concert was on the same day as her birthday, so she let me have her will call ticket. So I go up to the ticket window to get her ticket for myself, and the ticket lady tells me that I can't get the ticket because my friend wasn't physically there with an I.D. So I called my friend up to give the ticket lady the credit card number and all the information needed to prove to her that the ticket is for me, and the ticket lady still wouldn't give me her ticket.
So I went to the backstage door and waited for N.E.R.D. to come through the door. I wasn't trippin that much that the lady wouldn't give me the ticket because I knew either Pharrell or Chad would get me into the show. Suddenly Common's assistant comes through the door and asks me to help her and Common with part of his set. So I walked back stage and did so. I missed N.E.R.D.'s set, but I've never seen Common perform live before. I was very impressed, the shit was tight. Serena Williams was there also.... And yes.... She does have "BODY."

KENNA & BEATSTREETS

So, I haven't updated ya'll on what's been happening in BeatStreetS World in awhile, so here's an update on what's been happening. I just remixed Kenna - "Say Goodbye to Love" off of his new album "Make Them See My Face." Here's the video for it below, you can also go to my Myspace page to listen to it as well. It's gotten over 35,000 views in about a month on Current TV. I think that's pretty good considering I haven't done any promotion for it yet.

NICK CATCHDUBS

I met this guy at a Super Friends party at the Milk Bar in Frisco. I have never heard of him before that night, except for the fact that he plays good music. I had just finished my Remix Album Vol.1 and I just wanted to give Nick and Dj Vinsol a copy of it. I was intending for them to do anything with it, I just wanted them to hear it. And this is what came out of it. Peep the pics.

ETIQUTTE LOUNGE PERFORMANCE

Last Thursday was the first time I have ever been ono the Mic rapppin' to a crowd EVER!!! It was a going away party for The Renegades Crew Member "Tony Styles". He's going back to New York... So Enoch, PFunk, SS Click, and The Instant Messengers, and I performed at his going away party. The Pack was supposed to perform, but they flaked like they usually do. I was scared and excited at the same time. I still haven't gotten over the fear of performing in front of crowds yet, but hopefully I didn't show it. I felt naked up on stage like I was missing my clothes or something, but everything played out nicely. I stepped to the plate cause I saw Enoch loosing his voice. It's a good thing I remembered his verses.

YOUTH RADIO PRODUCER SHOWCASE

Yeah!!!! Thanks to Mr. Ben Frost, I was able to participate in the 2nd Annual Producer Showcase at Youth Radio on August 17, 2007. It was a real fun night. 3 producers and I got to showcase 4 of our original beats, remix a T.I. song, and flip Bob James - "Nautilus", and display our talents to the crowd. Me being a procrastinater, I flipped Bob James - "Nautiles" in like 3 hours before the showcase. Anyway The Highlight of the whole night was when we all came together along with past participants to recreate Kanye West - "Stronger" Live in front of everyone. Check it out.

EUROPEAN TOUR(2003)

Back in High School I was in the Berkeley High Jazz Ensemble from 2001-2003. To get into the band, you had to audition. N E Way, the band went on a European Tour to raise money to save the music program at Berkeley High School, CA. I just got the pictures like 2 weeks ago from the Tour. of course there's more, but can't put them all up. Now you can see what I looked like in High School. Not that much of a difference, just skinnier.

THE CARPS

As I steadily climb that ladder to where I want to be, I sometime bump into great artists and musicians along the way. It's great to meet whoever you're feelin', but it's even better when you get the chance to work with them. The Carps have given me the chance to remix their single "Compton to Scarboro" from their E.P. album "The Young and Passionate Days of Carpedia". I have finally mixed the track, and it is now on my Myspace page. So, check it out and show both The Carps and I some support. The Carps also has a music video to the single which you need to vote on at www.muchmusic.com. Special thanks to 1o.a.k and Matthew for helping me mix the track.

CANDIS FRANCIS

This is my first official remix!!!! Candis Francis sent me a messege on Myspace asking me to remix her song titled, "All Night." So I said, "Of Course!!" Long story short, I asked my old production partner 1o.a.k to help me out with this one. You can buy the "All Night(Remix)" on my Myspace page in my Sno Cap music library. It's only 99cents so there's no reason why you can't buy it.:) So take a listen and show some support.
